The Town of Hilton Head Island's 2026 Beach Renourishment Project began on August 6, 2025 at Fish Haul Beach, located off Mitchelville Road on the Island's north end. This vital initiative, part of the Town's long-term beach management program, is undertaken every 8 to 10 years and aims to preserve, protect, and restore Hilton Head's valuable shoreline.
The 2026 renourishment will mirror past efforts (1990, 1997, 2006, 2016) and involves placing approximately 2.2 million cubic yards of beach-compatible sand across 46,500 feet of Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline. Sand will be dredged from offshore shoals and pumped through extensive pipeline systems onto designated beach areas, then shaped by heavy machinery to meet specific design standards.
The $47.5 million project is divided into three phases, with work expected to last until May 2026:

During the renourishment, about 1,000-foot beach segments will be temporarily closed, with beachgoers directed around active work zones via ramps and signage. Construction is expected to proceed 24/7, moving at a pace of 200-300 feet per day, with minor disruptions lasting just a few days for any specific beachfront property
The proposed project will include sand placement along five areas of the island shoreline:
The project includes safeguards for endangered species. Activities are monitored by consultants to protect sea turtles and migratory shorebirds. Per U.S. Army Corps and USFWS permit conditions, dog activity is restricted in a small area adjacent to Fish Haul Creek Beach Park. All other beaches remain under normal seasonal pet access rules.

We had the best time staying at 10 Troon! The layout was perfect for our family of 8! The sunroom was such a lovely spot to have our morning coffee while watching the golfers! We traveled with friends and hosted a pasta dinner and had enough seating for 20 people!! Followed by the best game night in the family room which was such a fun entertaining spot! The walk to the beach was easy, as the access bridge is right across the street! All in all we absolutely loved our stay, house was clean and beautifully renovated! This is a beautiful property with an updated interior. Close proximity to everything in Palmetto Dunes. Highly recommend. Only negative was lack of a timely response from management company when we had ann emergency after hours. It is very frustrating to get voicemail after voicemail and directed to different phone numbers. What is the point of having an emergency number if no one answers or responds? They did, however, follow-up the next morning and apologized for the lack of response, which we greatly appreciated. Would definitely rent this property again!Posted: 5/6/2024

Great house. Well decorated and functional. We enjoyed the stay very much. The golf course view was very entertaining. AC went out for about a day and a half. Mgmt was very responsive and gave us two fans and a small ac unit. We asked for and were graciously granted an extra day for the inconvenience.
