The Town of Hilton Head Island's 2026 Beach Renourishment Project began on August 6, 2025 at Fish Haul Beach, located off Mitchelville Road on the Island's north end. This vital initiative, part of the Town's long-term beach management program, is undertaken every 8 to 10 years and aims to preserve, protect, and restore Hilton Head's valuable shoreline.
The 2026 renourishment will mirror past efforts (1990, 1997, 2006, 2016) and involves placing approximately 2.2 million cubic yards of beach-compatible sand across 46,500 feet of Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline. Sand will be dredged from offshore shoals and pumped through extensive pipeline systems onto designated beach areas, then shaped by heavy machinery to meet specific design standards.
The $47.5 million project is divided into three phases, with work expected to last until May 2026:

During the renourishment, about 1,000-foot beach segments will be temporarily closed, with beachgoers directed around active work zones via ramps and signage. Construction is expected to proceed 24/7, moving at a pace of 200-300 feet per day, with minor disruptions lasting just a few days for any specific beachfront property

The project includes safeguards for endangered species. Activities are monitored by consultants to protect sea turtles and migratory shorebirds. Per U.S. Army Corps and USFWS permit conditions, dog activity is restricted in a small area adjacent to Fish Haul Creek Beach Park. All other beaches remain under normal seasonal pet access rules.

One of the most spacious and well equipped condos in the Forest Beach area. We’ve stayed at the Seacrest complex for over 10 years and Seacrest 1013 is perfect when you need extra space. The living area can accommodate large groups. There was 11 of us which includes 4 little ones. This unit along with its adjoining unit is beautifully designed and has everything you need. I was shocked to find a pack n play available as well. They have beach items that can been used also. The only thing is that the appliances are not as user friendly as someone may be used to. Once you figure them out, they are wonderful. We had a few issues come up, but with just a phone call, they were addressed immediately by Island Time, which was wonderful. Excellent place for a family of all ages. Close to the beach, Tiki Hut Bar for live bands, bike friendly area, grocery store within 1/2 mile walk, variety of dining options just across the street, nice vacationers, quick response time to questions from the rental agent. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time. Our young children had interesting play areas to keep them busy. The seniors had walks or bike rides on the beach. What a gem! We were blown away by how beautiful and immaculate the condo is…just luxurious in every way. Stunning! The location was perfect - only steps away from great shopping and restaurants in one direction, and the beach/pool in the other. We loved having coffee on the deck in the morning while the sun was coming up over the oven followed by a walk along the beach. Not only were we fortunate enough to visit the beautiful island of Hilton Head but we were more fortunate enough to stay in such a lovely condo. Between the views from the porch, the proximity to the local bars/restaurants and shops, the accessibility to the beach, and the amenities this place has it all! The unit was very clean and comfortable for our group. There was definitely some time and thought put into this place as it was well put together. These condos were absolutely perfect! There was ample room for all 13 of us to spread out, there were more closets and cupboards than we could count, the patio was used all the time as we gathered there to plan and relive our days while enjoying the amazing views, the beds were very comfy, the location was unbeatable and the warm pool was well enjoyed! 1013 Seacrest is two villas combined for 14 guests. Have a smaller group? You can rent just one villa at a time. 101 Seacrest can host up to 8 guests and 103 Seacrest can host up to 6.
