The Town of Hilton Head Island's 2026 Beach Renourishment Project began on August 6, 2025 at Fish Haul Beach, located off Mitchelville Road on the Island's north end. This vital initiative, part of the Town's long-term beach management program, is undertaken every 8 to 10 years and aims to preserve, protect, and restore Hilton Head's valuable shoreline.
The 2026 renourishment will mirror past efforts (1990, 1997, 2006, 2016) and involves placing approximately 2.2 million cubic yards of beach-compatible sand across 46,500 feet of Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline. Sand will be dredged from offshore shoals and pumped through extensive pipeline systems onto designated beach areas, then shaped by heavy machinery to meet specific design standards.
The $47.5 million project is divided into three phases, with work expected to last until May 2026:

During the renourishment, about 1,000-foot beach segments will be temporarily closed, with beachgoers directed around active work zones via ramps and signage. Construction is expected to proceed 24/7, moving at a pace of 200-300 feet per day, with minor disruptions lasting just a few days for any specific beachfront property

Per U.S. Army Corps and USFWS permit conditions, dog activity is restricted in a small area adjacent to Fish Haul Creek Beach Park. All other beaches remain under normal seasonal pet access rules.

This beautifully decorated and cheerful home was an absolute dream to stay in. Everything was sparkling clean, and it’s clear the owners have thought of every detail to ensure guests feel comfortable and cared for. The newly renovated kitchen was a highlight—with a spacious island, top-notch appliances, and a thoughtfully stocked inventory that covered everything from baking pans to a martini shaker. If you love to cook or entertain, you’ll be in heaven. All the bedrooms featured incredibly comfortable king-size beds, except for the charming bunk room perfect for little ones. The bathrooms were pristine and stylish, offering ample space and functionality. The closet space was generous, complete with plenty of hangers, and the pantry was ideal for stocking up on groceries for the week. Even the laundry room was impressive—clean and equipped with modern appliances and a sink. Little touches like beach towels made the stay even more convenient and thoughtful. Outside, the private pool overlooked a scenic golf course, creating the perfect backdrop for a relaxing afternoon. The screened-in porch quickly became my favorite spot, ideal for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Dining alfresco while watching the golfers pass by was a treat. The location couldn’t have been better—just a short drive to the beach and close to great restaurants, making it easy to enjoy all that Hilton Head has to offer. You can truly tell that the owners take pride in this home. Everything was so well appointed, I honestly could have moved right in. This spacious home is bright, immaculate and well furnished with comfortable bedrooms. Newly decorated with everything you require for your stay. This kitchen has every tool and plenty of dishes, glassware and seating at the bar top and dining room. Big gas range and double oven as well as an outdoor grill if you’re eating in. You also can eat outside at two different size tables. The screened porch is a bonus room. Bathrooms are spacious and have plenty of space for your stuff. Lots of views of the pool, hot tub and golf course from most rooms. Plenty of light filled space as well as shades on every window and door. 18 Willow Oak was great. Newly renovated, new furniture and incredible pool, hot tub and patio overlooking the golf course and 7th green. Fully stocked kitchen and wet bar. It is a great location, and we took the bike path through the golf course to Frazer’s Taven, the beach, and Beach Club daily.
