The Town of Hilton Head Island's 2026 Beach Renourishment Project began on August 6, 2025 at Fish Haul Beach, located off Mitchelville Road on the Island's north end. This vital initiative, part of the Town's long-term beach management program, is undertaken every 8 to 10 years and aims to preserve, protect, and restore Hilton Head's valuable shoreline.
The 2026 renourishment will mirror past efforts (1990, 1997, 2006, 2016) and involves placing approximately 2.2 million cubic yards of beach-compatible sand across 46,500 feet of Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline. Sand will be dredged from offshore shoals and pumped through extensive pipeline systems onto designated beach areas, then shaped by heavy machinery to meet specific design standards.
The $47.5 million project is divided into three phases, with work expected to last until May 2026:

During the renourishment, about 1,000-foot beach segments will be temporarily closed, with beachgoers directed around active work zones via ramps and signage. Construction is expected to proceed 24/7, moving at a pace of 200-300 feet per day, with minor disruptions lasting just a few days for any specific beachfront property

The project includes safeguards for endangered species. Activities are monitored by consultants to protect sea turtles and migratory shorebirds. Per U.S. Army Corps and USFWS permit conditions, dog activity is restricted in a small area adjacent to Fish Haul Creek Beach Park. All other beaches remain under normal seasonal pet access rules.

Honestly there isn’t anything bad about this property. It was gated in private property, super close to restaurants and shopping centers with beachfront access. It was also super close to sea pines. The unit itself was very clean with beautiful beach art. The kitchen was absolutely beautiful. I recommend for anybody shopping around to stay here. You will not regret it!Posted: 8/26/2025

Went down for a family vacation and had a wonderful time. It was my first time staying here and it was very nice. Right on the beach. The beach was beautiful, and the water was warm. Short walk to the shops at Coligny. I would definitely stay here again.Posted: 7/5/2025
This place is amazing! Clean, bright and cheerful and such a close walk to the beach! My husband and I have stayed here several times at all different times of the year and each visit seems better than the next. The grounds are so lovely and the pool area is private and the perfect place to spend time in the evenings. I stayed at this property for just under a month in the fall of 2024, and it was wonderful! It has many modern upgrades, is immaculately clean and the property is in a great location. From the front door of this unit, you simply walk through the property parking lot and you are at the beach! The pool is heated and located in the center of the property, very well kept. The unit had everything I needed, including all kitchen amenities. While there were only 2 of us in this unit, there is plenty of space for a larger family, as the second bedroom had 3 additional beds (bunks and a queen). The location is excellent for walking in Hilton Head, as it is about a 5 minute walk from Coligny beach and all the shops and restaurants.
