The Town of Hilton Head Island's 2026 Beach Renourishment Project began on August 6, 2025 at Fish Haul Beach, located off Mitchelville Road on the Island's north end. This vital initiative, part of the Town's long-term beach management program, is undertaken every 8 to 10 years and aims to preserve, protect, and restore Hilton Head's valuable shoreline.
The 2026 renourishment will mirror past efforts (1990, 1997, 2006, 2016) and involves placing approximately 2.2 million cubic yards of beach-compatible sand across 46,500 feet of Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline. Sand will be dredged from offshore shoals and pumped through extensive pipeline systems onto designated beach areas, then shaped by heavy machinery to meet specific design standards.
The $47.5 million project is divided into three phases, with work expected to last until May 2026:

During the renourishment, about 1,000-foot beach segments will be temporarily closed, with beachgoers directed around active work zones via ramps and signage. Construction is expected to proceed 24/7, moving at a pace of 200-300 feet per day, with minor disruptions lasting just a few days for any specific beachfront property

The project includes safeguards for endangered species. Activities are monitored by consultants to protect sea turtles and migratory shorebirds. Per U.S. Army Corps and USFWS permit conditions, dog activity is restricted in a small area adjacent to Fish Haul Creek Beach Park. All other beaches remain under normal seasonal pet access rules.

The condo was exactly as shown in the pictures. The condo was decorated so well decorated and it had everything we needed for a wonderful week at the beach. The beds were comfortable and had plenty of towels. The management company was quick to respond with answers to the few questions we had. We stayed 5 days for the RBC Heritage golf tournament and relaxation, The place was fantastic, better Chan described. tverning was very clean, the bed was comtoraole and the oa hinower were areat. vi didnt ute the second bedroom or bathroom as there were just two of us but they looked nice as well. Seeing the beach and ocean from the condo is a great feature that we love. We were too busy to enjoy all the amenities (firepit, hot tub, pool, lagoon) but we did get to the beach via the very convenient private anach access, You can rent chams and umbre las set uo tont at the beach access which was corement a well. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The condo was roomy and very dean. The beds were so comfortable. Windsor court is an incredible area. We came down to Hilton Head for some much-needed relaxation and had a fabulous stay. The condo was perfect! Comfortable beds and lots of space for eating and hanging out. I didn't do a lot of cooking, but the kitchen had everything you would need to feed a family. The beach was steps away, and the weather was great! We were able to take lots of walks along the beach in the evening and saw many people riding bikes along the shore. The pool deck was clean and well-maintained. We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful condo in Palmetto Dunes. From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The space is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully decorated to give that perfect blend of comfort and coastal charm. One of the highlights is the stunning beach view — watching the sunrise from the balcony with our coffee was a daily treat. The location couldn't be better, with direct beach access just steps away. The condo is stocked with everything you could possibly need. The fully equipped kitchen had all the tools and appliances we needed to cook family meals, and the separate laundry area was a huge convenience for our longer stay. It really felt like a home away from home. The amenities in Windsor Court are top-notch. We enjoyed lounging by the pool and appreciated the well-maintained playground, which was a hit with the kids. The grounds are quiet and beautifully landscaped, adding to the relaxing atmosphere.
