The Town of Hilton Head Island's 2026 Beach Renourishment Project began on August 6, 2025 at Fish Haul Beach, located off Mitchelville Road on the Island's north end. This vital initiative, part of the Town's long-term beach management program, is undertaken every 8 to 10 years and aims to preserve, protect, and restore Hilton Head's valuable shoreline.
The 2026 renourishment will mirror past efforts (1990, 1997, 2006, 2016) and involves placing approximately 2.2 million cubic yards of beach-compatible sand across 46,500 feet of Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline. Sand will be dredged from offshore shoals and pumped through extensive pipeline systems onto designated beach areas, then shaped by heavy machinery to meet specific design standards.
The $47.5 million project is divided into three phases, with work expected to last until May 2026:

During the renourishment, about 1,000-foot beach segments will be temporarily closed, with beachgoers directed around active work zones via ramps and signage. Construction is expected to proceed 24/7, moving at a pace of 200-300 feet per day, with minor disruptions lasting just a few days for any specific beachfront property

The project includes safeguards for endangered species. Activities are monitored by consultants to protect sea turtles and migratory shorebirds. Per U.S. Army Corps and USFWS permit conditions, dog activity is restricted in a small area adjacent to Fish Haul Creek Beach Park. All other beaches remain under normal seasonal pet access rules.

This was our second time staying at this complex. Unit was nice and clean and had all the amenities promised. Plenty of towels and extra blankets. Beds were comfortable. Wish it had some basic pool/beach toys for the kiddos.Posted: 8/9/2025

We really enjoyed our stay in Ocean Club #4! The condo was well equipped with everything we needed. It’s in a great location close to the beach and shops. We rented bikes locally and biked to close by restaurants and ice cream shops. Great condo for people with younger kids with 3 beds in the second bedroom and close to pool and beach. We love this condo ! It is decorated so beautifully and is clean and comfortable . The location is near the pool and just a short walk to the beach .
